Russia to join European tax organization
Member states of the Intra-European Organization of Tax Administrations, or IOTA, have approved the accession of Russia's Federal Tax Service to the body. The Russian watchdog will become a full-fledged IOTA member on January 1, 2011, the federal service said in a press release.
As an IOTA member, Russia's tax regulator will cooperate with tax authorities of other countries and use joint efforts to settle tax legislation issues. IOTA, which currently has 44 members, including Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan, is designed to foster the development of tax legislation and administration.
