Moldova looks to Russia for stronger ties
Moldova is interested in developing trade and economic cooperation with Russia, specifically in light of the elimination of trade barriers in agricultural products and wines.
The issue was discussed on Monday during a round of intergovernmental consultations that took place at Moldova's Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, the ministry told RBC today.
Deputy foreign ministers of both countries discussed the key aspects of bilateral relations, as well as a number of international problems. The parties agreed to draft a program for intergovernmental cooperation for 2011-2013 in the humanitarian sphere.
Notably, the officials paid special attention to the Transnistrian problem, citing the importance of strengthening trust and resuming negotiations by using the expanding international aid efforts. Russia has once again confirmed its support for a conflict resolution on the basis of sustaining Moldova's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
